Joining us for Kaos Theory 9 is Rabobank’s Michael Every as we chronicle the decline of the post-WWII Liberal World Order (LWO) and the rise of Economic Statecraft as the new paradigm.
Pardon the tin foil hat comment, but the circumstances do not at all sound like they came about by mistake or incompetence. Kissinger and Rockefeller helped Dèng Xiǎopíng shift toward proper production and capitalism. The OSS/CIA helped both Mao's guerrillas and Chiang Kai-shek's KMT (see Claire Lee Chennault's Flying Tigers aka AVG and who commanded the squadron), the guy behind Chennault was another OSS man named Cornelius Vander Starr. Starr was an OSS man and is the founder of the insurance company later to be known as AIG; Starr had tons of strategic information on China due to his pre-AIG venture of American Asiatic Underwriters, which was started back in 1919. Starr had to move his operations from Shanghai to NYC; Starr helped establish the OSS insurance intelligence unit with William "Wild Bill" Donovan (in other words, Starr had all of the important details on what was strategically valuable in China and helped the founder of the CIA set up a unit based on this intelligence). Doubt this take all you want, but I'm only relaying easy to find facts.
Thank you for this conversation, Michael. I came here immediately after your outstanding conversation with the Sankey gentleman. Those who find that chat contrarian obviously haven't read much UrbanKaoBoy. I'm a follower and reader for the educated rationality. Both that and this discussion are on brand.
This was brilliant. I'm glad you let him talk. Wish it was longer.
Thank you! Yeah, I feel we could have easily gone another hour. Just look my Show Notes for stuff I wanted to ask but didn’t have time for.
Brilliant episode. Much needed clarity to cut through the simplistic media and fintwit pundit narratives.
🙏🙏🙏
