Kaoboy Musings on Substack is back!
Cutting in the Sub-Light Engines and Exiting TwitterSpace...
After a two-year hiatus from being inactive on Substack because of my choice to take my content onto Twitter, circumstances have made me seriously reconsider my commitment to the Twitter platform.
On 1/31/23, my Twitter account @urbankaoboy was “permanently suspended.”
My “flagrant violation of Twitter rules” to justify such an unceremonious ousting after two years of providing free, high-engagement content to ~72K followers? Applying for Twitter Blue, to pay Twitter to give me a blue check so that I could stand out apart from the dozens of impersonator accounts I’ve had! Against my better judgment and principle, I was willing to pay Twitter a fee and essentially reward them for not doing their job properly, and my reward was a “permanent suspension” without any explanation or follow-up to my repeated appeals.
The blessing in disguise is that this experience has ironically made it much easier for me to live up to my 2023 New Year’s Resolutions:
It has also made me contemplate how best to deliver my content going forward. As a first order of business, I am going to do what I’ve been putting off for quite some time: migrate my Twitter mega-threads over to Substack, as I’ve had many requests for this. Please bear with me during this migration period as you will get temporarily inundated with emails.
What comes next depends somewhat on Twitter. If my suspension is lifted, I will consider splitting up my time between platforms, but truth be told: I have never been a fan of the capriciousness of arbitrary censorship in social media. Now that I myself have been a victim of it (and for no violations that I’m aware of), I am reevaluating my commitment to any social media platform.
Lastly, if you value my contributions to Twitter, I ask that you retweet this story and spread this cautionary tale.
Much thanks and please stay tuned…

I just want to let everyone know that I appreciate your support. Please bear with me as you get inundated initially with update emails as I migrate some of my old threads here so that body of work is available to everyone.
Tyvm -- I am perplexed as well. Hard to have faith in a platform that arbitrarily censors people without explanation.
